How to image resizer
- Choose your images, or drop them on the page.
- Enter the width or height you need. Leave the other side empty to keep proportions.
- Pick how the image fits the box when both sides are set, and the output format.
- Press Convert and download the resized images.
Sizing images properly
Every resize starts from a full-quality decode of your file, then scales the pixels with the browser's high-quality filter, using progressive halving for big reductions so edges stay clean. Downscaling done this way looks as good as dedicated desktop software; there is no blur penalty for using a browser tool.
Set one side only and the proportions take care of themselves: 1600 wide on a 4000×3000 photo gives 1600×1200. Set both sides and the fit mode decides what happens: "Fit inside" letterboxes the image inside your box with nothing cropped; "Fill and crop" covers the box completely and trims the overflow, which is what you want for fixed-size avatars, thumbnails and print templates; "Stretch" distorts to fit and exists for the rare cases that genuinely need it.
Passport and visa photo tools, marketplace listings, CMS featured images and email signatures all reduce to the same recipe: one side, a proportion, a format. This tool is that recipe without an account.
Choosing the output format
"Keep each" resizes in place: JPG stays JPG, PNG stays PNG. That is the right default when only the dimensions are wrong.
Switching to JPG flattens any transparency onto white and suits photos heading for the web. PNG suits screenshots and graphics that must stay pixel-sharp. WebP produces the smallest results at the same quality and opens in every current browser.
The quality slider applies to JPG and WebP output; PNG ignores it because PNG is lossless.
Limits and honest notes
Upscaling is allowed but honest about being pointless: making a 500-pixel image 2000 pixels wide adds pixels, not detail. Enlarge in steps if you must, and expect softness.
Aspect ratios are never silently changed. If you set both sides in a mismatched proportion, "Fit inside" and "Fill and crop" behave as described above rather than warping the picture.
Metadata is dropped on re-encode; orientation is applied to pixels first. Up to 25 MB per file, 100 files per run, all processed on your device.
Frequently asked questions
How do I keep the aspect ratio?
Fill in only the width or only the height. The other side follows the image's proportions automatically.
Which fit mode should I use?
Fit inside when nothing may be cropped. Fill and crop when the exact box matters more than the edges, like avatars. Stretch almost never.
Can I enlarge a small image?
You can, but no tool can invent detail that was never captured. Expect visible softness when upscaling more than 2x.
Why is my resized photo still large?
Dimensions and quality are separate levers. A 1600px photo at quality 95 is much larger than at 75. Use the compressor if size is the goal.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Resizing runs entirely in your browser.
